The Best Buttercream Frosting

We all know the icing on the cake is the best part.

Over the years I've come up with quite a few recipes and tweaked them until I found the perfect ratio of buttery sweetness. Finally, I've made the perfect buttercream frosting...believe me when I tell you this one is by far the BEST! And to make it even better - it only calls for 4 ingredients and can be whipped up in no time!

INGREDIENTS

2 sticks of butter, softened

4 cups of powdered sugar, sifted

2 Tbsp heavy cream

1 Tbsp vanilla extract (or whatever flavoring you like)

DIRECTIONS

1. Add butter to a mixing bowl and whisk on high for 5 minutes until smooth and creamy.

2. While butter is whisking, sift powdered sugar into a separate bowl.

3. Once 5 minutes are up, turn mixer to low and gradually add powdered sugar, one cup at a time. Once all the sugar has been added, raise speed to high and allow to mix for 1-2 minutes.

4. Mixture will be thick and/or grainy, which is normal. This is the time to add in the heavy cream. If 2 tbsp doesn't give you desired consistency you can add in more heavy cream 1 tsp at a time.

5. Lastly, add in vanilla extract and allow all ingredients to mix for an additional 3-4 minutes.

You should be left with a bowl of creamy and sweet goodness, perfect for topping and/or filling cakes, cupcakes, cookies, pastries and more...

Enjoy!!
